In February 2025, Bankier Primary School celebrated its 60^th Birthday.

As part of the celebrations the school held a 'Through the Decades' concert marking important events from 1965 to 2025. Pictures from this can be found on the adjoining tab.

Mrs Wells, Bankier's Art Teacher, with the assistance of pupils, created a mural of memorbelia from the past 60 years for the concert,  which brought back many memories for staff and visitors.  This is now hanging in our infant area as a lasting legacy.

Pupils were also treated to an afternoon of music from two past pupils.  Karine Polwart, who is an acclaimed singer and musician, treated the pupils to a performance of some of her favourite songs.  This culminated in a whole school sing-a-long of  I'm Gonna do it All which Karine wrote, and was one of the finale songs for the concert.  This was followed by a Wicked performance from Lauren Gardner of the song 'Popular'.  The afternoon was thoroughly enjoyed by pupils and staff alike.

To mark our 60^th Anniversary we launched the 'Malcolm Cowie Award for Performing Arts'. This award will be presented annually to a Primary 7 pupil.  The first recipient, Stephanie Brown, was awarded the trophy in June 2025. Malcolm has supported the school and community with music and good spirit for many years, and was also the writer of another song featured in the concert finale ‘The Banknock Song’.
