Attendance
Improving attendance at Bankier Primary School is a big focus this year. This is a team effort that requires us to work with pupils, families and all staff to ensure we achieve the best outcomes for our children.

Reporting absence
We know that there are numerous valid reasons for pupils missing school.
If your child is unable to attend school please call on 01324 840206 or email bankierprimaryschool@education.falkirk.sch.uk and advise why your child will be absent before 09:30am.
Please do not Dojo staff about absence.
Recognising Attendance
Pupils who manage 100% attendance in a term will receive an attendance postcard for their efforts.
Pupils who manage 100% attendance over the course of the year will be in line for an extra special certificate and prize.

Why does attendance matter?
Absence from school has a detrimental impact on the outcomes of young people. Evidence suggest that for every 1% drop in attendance, there is a 3% drop in attainment.
Across Falkirk Council's Primary schools the average attendance was almost 94%. For 2022/23 Bankier's attendance was 90%. In 2023/24 our aim was to match the average council attendnace bvut we exceeded this and achieved 95.05%. Ths was consolidated in 2024/25 with an attendance level of 95.41%.
During 2022-23 we had 26% (more than a quarter) of our pupils having an absence of more than 90%. Pupils with 10% absence are missing, on average, one day of school per fortnight, which over a school year is equivalent to 18 days absence per year (3.5 weeks).
If a pupil continually had this absence from P1-7 that would be 24 weeks absence - over half an academic year!
In 2023/24 we decreased this to 17.21% and further decreased to 13.19% in 2024/25.
